Learning Outside the Classroom

Ramsden Primary School are proud to be the first primary school in the country, still the only one in the East Midlands, to have been awarded the Gold LOtC Mark from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.  We are lucky to have our own woodland area within the school grounds which the children can explore as well as a bird hide for observing our feathered visitors.

We added to our outside facilities by building an amphitheatre and outdoor classroom within the wood.  Our summer concerts are held here and the children can listen to stories around a campfire.

Our nature-watch cctv system has recorded various wildlife visiting after hours including a local fox, an owl and plenty of rabbits and squirrels.  The children enjoy spotting them on the screens and in the field or trees.

Mrs Mallinson and Mrs Lea have undertaken Forest Schools training to help us make the most of our outside area.  You can see what our children have been up to on our LOTC Blog.
